A Brief History of Xender
Xender began as a china based startup founded by Peter Jiang back in June 2011. Aimed to provide better connectivity to the world through technological innovations, the company released its first app, “Shan Chuan” in 2012 in China. It was the first cross-platform file-sharing app that could connect with many devices while providing very high-speed data transfer using WiFi and a hotspot.
The app was made available worldwide as Flashtransfer in 2013 and only supported two languages- Chinese and English. The app was renamed to Xender shortly after its global release. Beijing An Qi Zhi Lian Technology Co., Ltd. holds the patent of the name.
How Xender app works?
Xender works by establishing a WiFi-based peer-to-peer connection between two or more devices. It is different from the more commonly used P2P (Peer-to-Peer) link as that relies on the internet and is known as WiFi Direct.
When a user launches the app, it turns on WiFi-Hotspot in one device that can be joined by others using WiFi. It creates a secure direct wireless link between devices, which is up to 50 times faster than any Bluetooth connection and significantly faster than most home broadband connections.
What it means in real life is you can transfer Gigabytes of files from one device to the other in a matter of minutes. Furthermore, you save twice as much data than uploading the file to the cloud and downloading it again to use it.

- Download the latest version of Xender apk on your phone or tablet if you don’t have it already.
- Click plus button (‘+’) top of your app layout.
- Then click connect to PC.
- Now go to your chrome/firefox or any other browser on your PC and visit https://web.xender.com/. Similarly, you can search for Xender Web on your web browser.
- Scan the QR code on the landing page with the scan option in the xender app to connect.
- Once connected successfully, you can see all files, images, apps, videos present in your phone/ tablet. Download everything you need!
